A Redemption Church Update: Growth, Location Change, and a New Logo

After an exciting few weeks, I wanted to give an update on Redemption Church. We are approaching our fifth Sunday and the completion of our first month of gathering together for worship on Sunday mornings. In many ways, we’ve been blown away by the excitement and attendance. He is indeed a God “who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20).

The times of worship have been sweet, filled with the lovely voices of the saints submitting themselves to the authority of the Scriptures in the power of the Spirit. The simple worship has only accentuated the heavenly power of the basic and scrupulous (but often neglected) means of grace in scripture reading, singing, prayer, and preaching.

Over the last few weeks, our attendance continues to grow, now exceeding over 100 persons. We give glory to God for the number of people interested in joining in this new work. Even though we have yet to constitute and covenant together, we are already seeing new faces and visitors from the community who are coming to worship with us.

Moving to Community Christian School

The involvement of so many people has already created its logistical challenges. Redemption Church is already overrun with children. Praise the Lord for that! In addition, our initial meeting space at Toe to Toe Dance Studio has already become too small for us to meet. Therefore, we are excited to announce that beginning May 6th, Redemption Church will be assembling at Community Christian School here in Wilson, NC. A special thanks to Roy Henderson, the Head of School. CCS is located at 5160 Packhouse Rd, Wilson, NC 27896.

We will continue to gather at 10 AM for Fellowship and Worship will begin at 10:30 AM. We are grateful for CCS for their partnership in use of their facility, and we pray that this facility will allow us to continue to grow and provide extra rooms for children’s ministry.

In addition to corporate worship on Sunday mornings, we are also gathering on Sunday evenings at 5 PM. These evenings of prayer and study are laying the foundation for the vision of Redemption Church for the founding members. Currently, we have around 60 people who are seriously considering becoming those founding covenant members. Over the next couple weeks, we will be walking through our Confession of Faith, which I hope to write about in the days to come.

All in all, we have been incredibly encouraged, if not incredibly busy. Nevertheless, the Lord continues to give us the strength and wisdom in this expedited church planting process.

In the coming weeks, I hope to write about the specifics of the vision for Redemption Church as well give a behind the scenes look at the Church Planting process, in hopes of not only giving you ways to pray for us but to help provoke other church planters to conversation.

Redemption Church Logo

However, I have a second exciting announcement to make, the Redemption Church Logo! Special thanks to Joshua Ludlow for his service in helping us design our logo. The logo icon focuses on the cross, as Christ will be the center of Redemption Church and communicates the source of our redemption, the cross of Christ. This is also why we decided to go with a red color palette, as it communicates the shed blood of Christ.

As we move towards publicly launching in the Fall after we covenant together, we hope that Redemption Church will be a living testimony in the city of Wilson of the redemption offered in Jesus Christ and that many would be reached for the Kingdom because of our witness.

“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (Colossians 1:13–14, ESV)

Points of Prayer

  • Pray for us as we will begin meeting at CCS on May 6th, that the Lord would be exalted and the church would continue to be built up.
  • Pray that the Lord would bring us a consistent worship leader. We have had many sister churches send worship teams to assist us in these opening weeks, but we are eager to find a consistent worship leader for our congregation. If you know someone, email me at justin@redemption.church.
  • Pray for our leadership team as we continue to hammer out some of the founding documents and the vision and ministry strategy of Redemption Church.
  • Pray for our children’s ministry leaders and workers as they care and disciple our children, building the ministry from the ground up.
  • Pray for us with all the logistical and administrative challenges that go into planting a church.
  • Pray that Christ would be glorified and the lost reached.
